Nokia has already announced the availability of the next major Symbian update for some of its smartphones. However, some carriers have yet to deliver the Nokia Belle update to locked devices, so not all is well for Nokia fans who still own a Symbian smartphone.

It appears that Vodafone Australia is currently testing the Nokia Belle update sent by the Finnish company, and will probably be able to start the rollout within the next few days.

For the time being, the carrier will only release the Nokia Belle update for two smartphones, Nokia N8 and C7, but additional models will receive the upgrade as well, including Nokia E6 and E7.

According to Vodafone Australia, Nokia Belle for E6 and E7 has yet to arrive, as the handset manufacturer is still preparing the update for submission.

Nokia Belle introduces some new features and improvements that will enhance users overall experience.

For example, Nokia Belle brings three additional home screens, while the widgets that can be placed on these home screens have been improved and are now more functional.

Furthermore, the status bar has been enhanced to include common settings and notifications of incoming messages, along with missed calls and the like.

There’s more to it, as the latest version of Nokia Belle includes new business apps, such as Lync, Sharepoint, OneNote, Exchange ActiveSync and PowerPoint Broadcaster.

On a side note, Nokia plans to deliver a Feature Pack 1 update for Nokia Belle smartphones, such as 603, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701. Apparently this update will improve the Nokia 700 and 701 processors’ speeds from 1 GHz to 1.3 GHz.

In other news, Vodafone customers will be happy to know that the carrier has already approved the PR1.2 update for Nokia N9 and the 12070 update for Lumia 800.

Both updates are now waiting to be released by Nokia, which means Vodafone Australia should announce their availability any day now.
