A new mobile phone has been just announced as heading for wireless carrier T-Mobile in the United States, the Nokia Astound, which is none other than the Nokia C7 smartphone that went official in September last year.

The new handset was rumored a few times before, and T-Mobile already made a formal announcement on its availability.

Starting with April 6th, T-Mobile customers have the possibility to purchase the new smartphone from their wireless carrier, for $79.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, and upon the signing of two-year contract agreement.

“Offering value without compromise, the Nokia Astound will be available exclusively from T-Mobile USA beginning April 6,” the wireless carrier announced.

The new mobile phone comes with a sleek stainless-steel design, which would easily impress users.

Moreover, the new device includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with dual-LED flash and 720p HD video capture capabilities. On the front, the Nokia Astound would sport a brilliant 3.5-inch capacitive touch AMOLED display.

The handset's hardware specifications would include built-in GPS receiver with free turn-by-turn navigation from Nokia. It would also offer users access to the Nokia Ovi Store for downloading content and applications.

The new mobile phone runs under Nokia's Symbian^3 operating system, and offers enhanced customization options, including homescreens, applications, and more.

The Astound has three fully customizable homescreens, giving quick access to email, and the ability to check the latest from Facebook and Twitter, or just surf the web,” the wireless carrier announced.

“For entertainment, the Astound comes pre-loaded with games like Fruit Ninja and the Slacker Radio app for listening to the latest music,” the company continues.

As stated above, the new mobile phone would become available for purchase via T-Mobile starting with April 6, via T-Mobile retail stores around the country, as well as online on the company's website. Customers interested in it would need to sign a two-year service agreement and qualifying voice and data plan.
