One of the largest technology trade fairs, Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 has just closed its doors, but Nokia, even if it attended the show, it did not come with anything new.

However, we expect the Finnish company to be back in full force next month at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, the place where Nokia usually announced its lineup of smarpthones for the next months.

There has been a lot of hype around Nokia's first Android smartphone, the so-called Normandy, which might or might not see the light of day.

The Normandy is suppose to be Nokia's first step on replacing its Asha series of handsets, in order to better compete on the low-end smartphone market which seems to be dominate by Android devices.

Obviously, it will take some time to replace the Asha series with a new lineup of handsets powered by Android platform, if that's what Nokia and Microsoft plan in the future.

Until then, it seems that Nokia has a few more Asha devices in the works and the Ashs Spinel is one of the unannounced handsets that's expected to go official next month.

Nokia Asha Spinel popped up online several weeks ago when @evleaks published the codenames for some of the handsets the Finnish company has in the works.

The first press render leaked a short while ago and we noticed the extremely square form factor of the Spinel, though in reality the display kept the same 3:4 aspect ratio.

The last information regarding the unannounced Spinel comes via MyNokiaBlog site, which has been recently tipped on the phone's appearance on Nokia's official website.

The Spinel has been advertised on Nokia's official website as Asha 501, but it doesn't look like the Asha 501 at all. Instead, the devices strongly resembles the device that's been leaked in press render last month as Asha 230 “Spinel.”

There aren't any details regarding the phone's specs sheet yet, but we suspect this will be one of the cheapest Asha handset to be launched by Nokia. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
