Today, Nokia announced a new series of Asha devices set to arrive on shelves with new features and capabilities aimed at delivering new end-user experiences, with the Asha 501 being the first of them, set to hit shelves sometime in June.

Announced with a $99 (75 Euro) price tag attached to it before taxes and subsidies, the new device should help Nokia bring smartphone features to more users, while also offering web access to new people around the world.

The smartphone packs a full-touch design, with a new UI loaded on top, based on the MeeGo platform present on Nokia N9, and promises features and capabilities such as multitasking, support for swiping gestures, double tap to unlock, and more.
