14 DAY TRIAL // Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia appears set to expand its lineup of devices in India as much as possible, and the newly announced Asha 500 and Asha 503 should help it in this pursuit.
Today, the company confirmed the availability of no less than five mobile phones in the country, including the aforementioned two affordable Asha devices, which will be launched in late December and early January, respectively.
Nokia Asha 500 arrives on the market with a 2.8-inch QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) display, 64MB of RAM packed inside, and a microSD memory card slot that enables users to add up to 32GB of additional storage space to it.
Furthermore, the new device is powered by a 1200 mAh battery, which should deliver up to 14 hours of talk time or up to 22 days of standby time.
Nokia Asha 500 measures 100.3 x 58.1 x 12.8mm and weighs 101.3 grams, while packing a 2MP camera on the back, dual-SIM capabilities, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and FM Radio.
It runs under the Nokia Asha software platform with Swipe UI, and it will be released in India in Bright Red, Yellow, White, and Black, with a price tag of Rs. 4,499 ($72/€53) attached to it, as fonearena notes.
Nokia Asha 503, on the other hand, is a bit larger at 3.0 inches, but delivers the same screen resolution, while also enjoying Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection.
The phone sports the same RAM, ROM, and microSD memory card slot options as Asha 500, along with dual-SIM with dual-standby capabilities. Furthermore, it will arrive in the same color options as its smaller brother.
The same as Asha 500, it runs under the Nokia Asha software platform with Swipe UI, but packs a 1110 mAh battery that can offer up to 12 hours of talk time (2G), or up to 20 days of standby (dual SIM). The specifications list of Asha 503 also includes support for 3G networks, along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 3.0, and a 5-megapixel camera on the back, with LED flash. This device will land on the market with a price tag of Rs. 6,799 ($109/€80) attached.
