Even though it has recently sold its Mobile Devices & Services business to Microsoft, Nokia seems to have plans of its own when it comes to the mobile phone market.

The Finnish company’s Asha lineup is pretty successful in Asia and other emerging markets, so there’s no reason for Nokia not to expand it with new models.

As such, evleaks has just revealed the first press render of the unannounced Nokia Asha 500. This is not the first time we hear about this phone and judging by the title of the tweet, it might be launched on the market this year.

We expect that it will be powered by Nokia Asha software platform, which is Nokia’s new platform for Asha feature phones. The press render also hints to a WhatsApp Messenger app that comes pre-loaded on the phone.

It’s a new UI based on a mix of slide and gesture elements borrowed from various operating systems such as Android and MeeGo. Stay tuned for more updates on this one.
