In addition to Nokia Asha 308, Finnish handset vendor Nokia also unveiled the Asha 309, a single SIM member of the expanding Asha Touch family of devices.

Measuring 109.9 x 54 x 13.2 mm and weighing 102 grams, the new device comes with the same 3-inch capacitive touchscreen display as Asha 308, and boasts the same 400 x 240 pixels resolution.

The handset comes with the same fluid ‘swipe’ user interface that helped Asha devices gain the smartphone tag, while also providing users with access to a variety of applications and games.

“You can easily and quickly swipe between your application launcher with all your apps in one place; your ‘My Screen’ can be personalized with favorite contacts, apps and shortcuts — and a third home screen provides quick access to most-used features such as the phone dialer or music player,” Nokia explains.

The specs list of Asha 309 shows WLAN IEEE 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 3.0 capabilities, along with Micro-USB, 3.5 mm Nokia AV Connector and a BL-4U 1110mAh battery packed inside (capable of 650 hours of standby time or 6 hours of talk time).

With 64MB of internal memory and 128MB of mass memory, the handset also enables users to add up to 32GB of external storage via a microSD memory card slot.

The phone also comes with a 2.0-megapixel photo snapper on the back, capable of recording videos at 176 x 144 pixels resolution, the same as Asha 308.

In fact, the rest of its capabilities and features are similar with those of the newly launch dual-SIM mobile phone from Nokia, including the availability of 40 free games from EA.

“The Nokia Asha 309 is a single-SIM, WiFi-enabled device for fast and cost-effective access to the Internet. It also comes with an Internet radio app for unlimited streaming of tens of thousands of global online radio stations. It comes in white or black,” Nokia explains.

The handset is expected to arrive on shelves in the fourth quarter of this year, featuring a price tag of $99 (€77), excluding taxes and subsidies. Learn more on what it has to offer on Nokia’s website.

This phone is awesome. Of course we cannot compare it with the iPhone or the Samsung galaxy etc. but this is an affordable phone at an very affordable price. Don't keep stressing on its weakness and you'll see the greatness of this phone :)
