Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia made official a new smartphone in its popular Asha series, namely the Asha 210, packing a series of features meant to make users’ experience more social than before.

The device, teased online only several days ago, sports a QWERTY keyboard on the front, so that users could type messages faster, and also packs a dedicated WhatsApp button, which should enable people to launch conversations with a single tap.

Furthermore, the new mobile phone arrives on shelves with support for Wi-Fi networks, while also offering fast access to other social networking sites, all in a distinctive Nokia design and bold colors.

“The great quality keyboard will be a favourite with text addicts. As well as WhatsApp, the phone comes with Facebook, Twitter and support for email accounts, so you’ll never be more than a few moments away from status updates, chat and messages,” Nokia notes in a blog post.

The specs list of this device includes a 2.4-inch QVGA (320 x 240 pixel) screen, 64MB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of external storage space. It will be launched in both single and dual-SIM flavors.

Furthermore, it comes with GSM/EDGE 900/1800 (single and dual-SIM), 850/1900 (single-SIM only) connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, MicroUSB, and Series 40 software loaded on top, while measuring 111.5 x 60 x 11.8 mm. Asha 210 weighs 97.3 grams.

“The Asha 210 is fully equipped for capturing and sharing great photographs. There’s a 2-megapixel camera on the back that can be activated using a dedicated button on the front. This works even when the phone is locked, so you’ll never miss a shot,” Nokia explains.

“The camera comes with smart imaging software that boasts the latest talents. The self-portrait feature gives you voice-guidance on where to point to make sure your face is in the frame. And once you’ve taken your shot, you can edit images directly in the camera app.”

The handset also features photo sharing capabilities, the Nokia Xpress Browser for fast Internet navigation while on the go, and a Nokia Nearby web app.

The phone’s battery should be able to deliver up to 46 days of standby on the single-SIM model, or up to 24 days of standby with dual-SIM.

The new Nokia Asha 210 is set to arrive on the market before the end of this quarter, and will be released in color flavors such as yellow, cyan, black, magenta, and white. The phone will be priced at around $72 (55 Euro), before taxes and subsidies.
