Vodafone UK has just made available for purchase on its airwaves a new affordable device from Nokia

, none other than the Nokia Asha 201 that was made official in October last year.

Vodafone has the smartphone exclusively available on its network, and sells it for free on contracts that start at £45 ($71 / 53 Euros) per month.

The new device is available for purchase all dressed up in white on the wireless carrier’s website, providing users with all the features and capabilities that a QWERTY-enabled device has to offer.

This affordable handset also comes to the market with fast access to social networking sites, while being capable of keeping people in touch with their friends via SMS, email, and instant messaging as well.

“The Nokia Asha 201 comes with Facebook and Twitter built in, so you can start networking with your friends straight away. Get your social media messages sent straight to your homescreen, and reply to them quickly using the large QWERTY keypad,” Vodafone notes.

“If you love apps, you'll find loads to entertain you on the Nokia Asha 201. Head to the Nokia store for a whole range of apps and games you can download straight to your phone – many of which are free.”

The specifications list of this device includes a 2.4-inch display that can deliver a 320 x 240 pixels resolution, along with 10 MB of internal memory (64 MB ROM, 32 MB RAM) and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The new device also comes to the market with a 2-megapixel photo snapper on the back with video recording capabilities, along with Stereo FM radio with RDS, FM recording, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, EDR, and microUSB v2.0.

“Just pop a compatible microSD card into the Nokia Asha 201, and you can store up to 32GB of music. You can even use the space to record your favourite radio show - so journeys never need to be boring again. And with the ringtone tuner, you can turn your own music into a ringtone,” the carrier notes.

The mobile phone also comes with fast web browsing, as well as with page compression technology, which results in data and cost savings for both users and carriers.

“When you browse the web, the Nokia Asha 201 compresses web pages by up to 90% – meaning you can visit more pages without worrying about the cost. And if you add one of our Vodafone Freebees, such as the Free Text & Web Freebee, you'll be able to do even more,” Vodafone concludes.
