Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced a new developer program aimed at those interested in building applications for its Asha devices.

The new program has been launched based on the Premium Developer Program for Lumia handsets that was launched last year, and which has already proved to be one of the most successful such initiatives launched by Nokia.

Nokia Asha software builders will enjoy a wide range of benefits as part of the new program, aimed at enabling them to come up with better applications and games for the full-touch handsets in Nokia’s popular series.

“Developers who create high quality Asha full touch apps will also be eligible for further benefits to improve the discoverability of their apps,” Nokia announced.

“The quality and quantity of apps and games are also improving all the time, and things are about to get even better thanks to the new Asha Premium Developer Program.”

Through this program, Nokia will provide developers with more resources than what they can access through the standard Nokia Developer registration, while also improving their chances of success.

Nokia unveiled two tiers of benefits available for app builders as part of the initiative, with enhanced productivity tools and app promotion opportunities for both new and experienced developers.

The enhanced productivity tools include a free Nokia Asha 310 smartphone for development, expanded Remote Device Access to test apps on different Nokia Asha devices, and free tech tickets for Asha development support (valued at $198 USD).

New app promotion opportunities include either greater visibility and promotion on the Nokia Store, or a credit worth $500 USD to run paid ad campaigns on the Nokia Ad Exchange (NAX), with access to more than 120 advert networks worldwide.

Developers interested in this should head over to this page on the Nokia Developer website to learn more on how they can join the initiative.
