Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has just announced a new set of software updates for its Windows Phone 8-based smartphones, including the Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and Lumia 620.

The company promises a series of performance improvements as part of the new update, as well as various other enhancements.

Apparently, the update will be released as version 1232.5957.1308.00xx for the company’s Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, but will feature a different build number on the Lumia 620.

“This software, version 1232.5957.1308.00xx, includes further performance and stability improvements, enhancements to display stability during a call, and improved automatic display brightness adjustment,” a recent post on Nokia Developer Blog reads.

Owners of a Nokia Lumia 620, on the other hand, will receive their share of improvements as software version 1030.6407.1308.00xx, it seems.

The update “will include improved touch behavior and enhancements to system stability and camera picture quality, such as corrected camera exposure when the flash is used in bright light conditions,” said blog post explains.

Nokia also confirmed that all new Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and Lumia 620 smartphones are currently receiving the update, which means that they will land on shelves with the new software preinstalled.

Existing devices are set to receive the new firmware at a later date, the Finnish handset vendor also announced.

These are not the first software updates that Nokia’s Windows Phone 8 smartphones receive, and the company encourages users to download and install the previously released firmware on their handsets before the new one arrives.

Those who would like to learn more on the previous update for Nokia Lumia 820 and Nokia Lumia 920 should head over to this page on the company’s support website. The software was pushed to devices over-the-air (users should download it over a Wi-Fi connection), and should take around 15-30 minutes to install, the company explains.
