Nokia’s only tablet endeavor available on the market today is the Lumia 2520, which runs Windows RT out of the box. But rumor has it Nokia might be prepping tablets with Android too.

Back at MWC 2014, the Finnish company launched the X smartphone series running Android. However, the handsets don't offer access to Google Play Store, but users are still able to download tons of applications and games via third-party stores, such as Yandex, Nokia Store, 1Mobile and Aptoide.

Reportedly, Nokia X has been met with great demand in China and this positive feedback might have been prompting Nokia to consider adopting the Android platform for their future tablets.

According to the folks at TabletManiak who appear to have stumbled upon some insider information, the first Nokia tablets running Android will arrive in 2016. We’re not given any information whether the slate will boast a personalized version of Android like we have seen with the Nokia X or the fully-fledged Google OS, which would be the nicer choice.

Furthermore, Nokia is said to be prepping three tablets, with screen sizes covering the 7-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch form factor. All of them will arrive with a minimum of 1080p. More information is not provided, but take the info with a grain of salt, because the information seems to be quite underground at the moment.
