Following a few months’ wait, owners of Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 smartphones on the network of wireless carrier AT&T can now download and install the Nokia Amber update on their devices.

The software arrives on these smartphones with build number 3046.0001.1326.0003, bringing the firmware version up to 1325 and the OS up to 10327, WPCentral reports.

The new release is being delivered to users over-the-air, which means that they will be notified on its availability.

Furthermore, they can also check for it manually, through heading to Settings > Phone Update > Check for updates.

As part of the update, users will receive not only the enhancements that Nokia packed inside Amber, but also a series of improvements from Microsoft themselves, included inside the Windows Phone 8 GDR2 release, which is part of the package.

The software upgrade features better ‘Other’ storage support, along with fixes for Xbox Music, FM Radio, and Me Tile image.

Nokia Amber also comes with specific enhancements to Lumia devices, one of the most important of them being the Glance Screen, which displays various pieces of information on the lockscreen.

At the same time, the new firmware brings two highly appealing features, namely double tap to wake, and flip to silence.

Other improvements in the update include:

- Nokia Pro Camera and Smart Camera - Default camera support - Call + SMS blocking - Lumia Color Profile - Improved image processing - Improved Bluetooth technology

The update will take around 20 minutes to complete, though it should be completed much faster in most cases. Apparently, some users received an error message when beginning to download the software, though it all went well upon retrying to grab it.

Although AT&T did not provide specific info on how long it would take for the new release to reach all devices out there, we can expect the rollout to be completed in a matter of weeks, if not days.
