Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is reported to have confirmed that some of the North American 5800 XpressMusic devices came to the market with 3G connectivity issues. Even if acknowledging it, it seems that the company announced that only the handsets shipped to Chicago and New York were affected by the problem.

As many of you might already know, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic NAM was reported recently to have some 3G connectivity issues, and the company halted all sales of the device. Now, the mobile phone maker says that the phones shipped to Dallas and Miami are working good, but that an investigation is underway so as to determine the reason for which the issue surfaced.

“We have learned that some Nokia 5800 XpressMusic devices are having issues with 3G performance. This is a very isolated problem concerning only the North American market and is not specific to any other region or country. We are currently investigating the matter further to find a quick remedy to the situation,” is what a Nokia PR representative is reported to have stated.

At the same time, it seems that the company is also considering the possibility that the issue was not caused by the device itself, and announced that it also planned to investigate the network on which the problems occurred. Given the fact that, according to the company, the 5800 XpressMusic NAM only experienced problems in Chicago and New York, the network seems like a plausible cause.

“Customer satisfaction and product quality are very important to Nokia and we take all quality and customer satisfaction-related issues seriously. Nokia is investigating the issue. Existing customers of the 5800 XpressMusic who experience 3G signal issue with the device are advised to contact Nokia Customer Care,” the PR rep also added.

It remains to be seen what Nokia will find out in the end, as well as what measures to fix the issue it will take, so stay tuned to learn more details as they surface.
