A new mobile phone coming from Espoo, Finland, has been spotted into the wild recently, namely the Nokia 8800 Erdos, a luxury device that includes more than just expensive materials and high-quality crafting. The new device is reportedly headed to the market with a different approach when it comes to the way the phones are built, as well as great differences in materials.

For the beginning, we should mention that the fresh device reportedly sports a display covered by glass, which has been developed so as to be transparent when the handset is in use and to turn silver when turned off. In addition, the Nokia 8800 Erdos is expected to come with Symbian S60 3rd edition on board, and should reach the market in October 2009. The video below will show you a little more on this handset.

When it comes to the specifications list of the phone, we can count a 2.4-inch OLED display that boasts a QVGA (320 x 240 pixel) resolution and support for 16 million colors, a 5-megapixel photo snapper with Carl Zeiss optics, auto focus, video recording capabilities and LED flash, as well as a series of connectivity options, including High Speed USB (micro-USB), Stereo Bluetooth v. 2.0 (A2DP & AVRCP), WLAN, WCDMA bands: I + VIII, GSM 900/1800/1900, and AGPS.

The new Nokia 8800 Erdos measures 116.9 x 50,3 x 15.0 mm and includes 8GB of available internal memory, with no MicroSD memory card slot included in the equation. Other things that can be said about the phone are that it has been carved out of a single piece of metal that cellpassion says has been marketed as “bullet silver.” The device comes in a sliding form factor, and its keypad will rise to the display's level when slid.

The Nokia 8800 series of luxury phones from the Finnish handset maker Nokia is already known around the world, especially due to the fact that the devices included in the lineup come to the market with high quality materials and great build quality, only that they lack some of the capabilities that other products have, especially when it comes to their specifications list. However, it seems that Nokia plans on changing this state of facts a little with the release of Nokia 8800 Erdos.
