Nokia’s high-quality camera phone 808 PureView was expected to arrive in the UK in early June, but it seems that it might have got delayed a little.

Apparently, online retailer Clove has already announced those who pre-ordered the device that they will be receiving it later than expected, at least for those interested in purchasing it free of contract.

A reader provided MyNokiaBlog with the email that Clove UK has sent him to announce the push back of the pre-ordered device.

“We have today received information that the 808 will not be available for sale SIM-FREE through Clove until mid-late July,” Clove said.

“We understand that this is not the news you want to hear, as stock was expected in early June but we are sure this phone (or camera with a phone) will be worth the wait.”

No details on when the device will become available have been provided, and the retailer appears to have made changes to the listed availability date on its website as well.

The Nokia 808 PureView comes with a 41-megapixel photo snapper on the back, promising the best camera experience that any smartphone could offer.

Earlier this month, Nokia announced that it was on track to make the Symbian smartphone available for purchase before the end of May.

However, it appears that factors that haven't been officially disclosed determined it to delay the launch, and that UK users might not be the only ones affected.

According to some, the company is still working on camera algorithms for the smartphone, and that would be the main cause of delay. Rumor has it that Nokia hasn’t yet produced any 808 PureView retail units.

The handset will hit the market in Belgium only on June 19th or after, at least this is what the website of online retailer pdashop shows. The 808 PureView will sport a price tag of 649EUR ($812) in this country, it seems.
