Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia plans on increasing its presence on the market in China, and the company has just announced a new Symbian smartphone for this market, namely the Nokia 801T.

The new device is running under the Symbian operating system, and is set to land on shelves in China with support for the local TD-SCDMA networks.

Apparently, Nokia designed it with the Symbian^3 operating system inside, as well as with a series of features and capabilities tailored for the Chinese market.

The new mobile phone arrives on shelves with a large 4-inch touchscreen panel, which should offer a great experience when it comes to displaying messages, information, and photo content.

Additionally, it comes with a built-in telescopic TV antenna, which is meant to provide users with instant access to mobile TV (CMMB) regardless of the place they are in.

Not to mention that the new Nokia smartphone offers users the possibility to connect to the fast TD-SCDMA networks in the country.

It also packs NFC functionality for delivering increased convenience and functionality through simply touching NFC-enabled mobile phones and accessories to match.

The handset features an all-metal unibody, but little is known at the moment about the rest of its hardware specifications.

What we know is that the new device will be launched on shelves at China Mobile, and should offer support for a variety of applications, Nokia explains.

Users can download and install applications on this device to benefit from a better experience, while also enjoying its web browsing capabilities, as well as a variety of services that have been made available for it.

Unfortunately, it’s still not clear exactly when the smartphone will be launched at the wireless carrier. However, since it has already made the phone official, Nokia might be set to make it available in the not too distant future, so stay tuned for more on this.
