The phone offers support for English and simplified Chinese languages

Nokia has unveiled the Nokia 6708, a business device aimed at Asian markets, featuring support for English and simplified Chinese languages. The mobile comes with a stylus which can be used to draw characters on the 2.66 inches touch-screen, relying on the handwriting recognition software; or alternatively, to enter them by tapping on the keys of a virtual keyboard.

The phone runs on Symbian OS and includes the UIQ graphical interface.

In terms of multimedia the handset offers music player, video player and a 1.3 megapixel camera with anti-shaking and multi-shot capabilities. Additional features include 18 MB of internal memory with the possibility of expansion via miniSD cards, Bluetooth, infrared, USB, e-mail support, web browser.

"The Nokia 6708 is designed to meet the growing demand for pen-based touch-screen smartphones with handwriting recognition capabilities," said Mathia Nalappan, Vice President of Asia Pacific Nokia. "The new device is in line with Nokia's vision of enabling workforce mobility. We believe it's an important addition to Nokia's wide ranging product portfolio for business people."

The phone is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2006 for an estimated retail price of 330$.
