Nokia 6600 Slide, one of the latest mid-end handsets to bear the Finnish manufacturer's logo and touch, was recently approved by the FCC and it might soon be commercially available across the US. The phone works on the 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 GSM frequencies as well as on the 850 / 2100 WCDMA ones, and the FCC approved its usage on all of them. Thus, it's very likely that a GSM carrier from the States will include the handset in its product line-up, sometime in the future (AT&T or T-Mobile could be interested in this).

Announced at the end of April, together with the 6600 Fold and the 3600 Slide models, Nokia 6600 Slide can easily be categorized as a nice phone (that's unless you don't like Nokia products, of course).

The features of 6600 Slide include: a 2.2 inch TFT display with 16.7 million colors and 320 x 240 pixels, accelerometer, Nokia Maps, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with double LED flash and video recording, Music player (with support for MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+), stereo FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0, Opera Mini 4 browser, Macromedia Flash Lite 3.0 support, email, Instant Messaging, Nokia Xpress Audio Messaging, USB and 20MB of expandable memory.

The new Nokia weighs 110 grams (3.88 ounces) and, when not slid, it measures 93 x 45 x 14 millimeters (3.66 x 1.77 x 0.55 inches). Its battery is a 1000 mAh one that should last up to 3 hours in talk-time mode and up to 240 hours in stand-by mode.

In Europe, the 6600 Slide will have a retail price of 250 Euros (which means about $390), hence US mobile users will probably be able to buy the new handset for a similar amount of money (or for much less if a carrier decides to offer the phone with a contract agreement).
