A long time has gone by since September, when Nokia launched the 3G phone with a slider phone factor, the Nokia 6288. Although the mobile phone was scheduled to start shipping during the third quarter of 2006, the year has passed without the 6288 available in stores or any information on why it didn't start shipping.

In fact, for one reason or another, the 6288 has just recently received its FCC approval, which means that it won't be long now until the phone will finally be available on the market.

Nokia 6288 features a 2 megapixel camera with video recording capabilities, a secondary VGA camera for video calling and a 262k color display with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution. The phone was designed to provide the user with high-quality video playing, and for the user to be able to store all the video content, a 512MB memory card was included as well.

The dedicated camera and zoom buttons the mobile phone also includes enable the user to easily record a video or snap a photo. When Nokia launched the phone, they were expecting it to become highly popular among consumers due to the fact that the Nokia 6288 would provide both 3G capabilities and other multimedia features for a more affordable price.

The phone comes in either black or white, measures 100 x 46 x 21 mm and weighs 115 grams. Since the mobile phone is now FCC approved, it's expected to be available very soon and have an approximate price of 325 Euro.
