Nokia has chosen India as one of the first markets to get its 6220 Classic candybar released, a nicely-featured device announced by the Finnish company back in February, during MWC 2008. We don't know if this has anything to do with the fact that Nokia has
been recently recognized as India's most trusted brand, but what's clear is that the 6220 Classic will be available for Indian mobile users starting the next few days, in two color versions: black and purple.

According to Business Standard, the new Nokia will have a retail price of 19,959 INR - about $465 or 295 Euros. This is justified by the fact that the handset has lots of features that kind of make it similar to an Nseries smartphone.

First of all, the 6220 Classic comes with a 5 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, auto focus, Xenon flash and video recording (up to 480 x 640 pixels at 30fps). Moreover, thanks to the built-in GPS of the phone, the camera also offers geotagging.

Other features packed by Nokia in the new handset include: Wi-Fi, Symbian S60 3rd Edition OS, Nokia Maps 2.0, a 2.2 inch TFT display with 16 million colors and 240 x 320 pixels, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, Music and Video players, TV out, email, HTML browser, Instant Messaging, 120MB of internal memory and microSD card support for up to 8GB.

The 6220 Classic also features quad-band GSM connectivity (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, as well as dual-band HSDPA - but since, for the moment, India does not have a 3G network, the HSDPA connectivity is not actually of interest for Indian users.

To keep the handset's price as low as possible (despite the wide range of specs), Nokia has built it out of materials mainly used by the company for its entry-level handsets. Thus, users should not expect the 6220 Classic to be similar to an Nseries smarpthone when it comes to, let's say, the quality of its case.

Anyway, Nokia 6220 Classic is still a nice handset, and it will probably be successful in India.
