Nokia employees are probably nostalgically recalling the times when a handset would have been created and launched, despite rumors claiming that it would not be a success as there was no demand for such a device. Now, because of the international crisis and of the fact that it is only going to get worse in the year to come, a very elegant and promising phone at first sight – since it’s the only sight we're going to get of it – has been canceled. It’s probably not too exaggerated to say that much grief is felt and many tears are shed over this particular phone over at Nokia.

The device remains unnamed and, by looking at its specs, we find that it showed much potential, had it been included in Nokia's fashion line devices. Nonetheless, there is nothing stopping us from reading about it as if it’s about to appear soon, as it would have been supposed to.

The first thing that we notice is that it was shaped as a violet, really classy-looking slider, combining sharp angles with round lines, thus making it appealing for most types of potential clients. It would have delighted us with a crystal finish, and would have probably been included in the Prism range of fashionable phones.

As for its features, rumors are saying that these would have resembled closely those of the 6260 slider, this being one of the probable reasons it was canceled. The other, more important, alleged reason was the fact that such a device could not fit the market, while the demand for it would have become small to inexistent starting next year. In any case, the optics would have been provided by Carl Zeiss and even if not much information is available on the subject, it still would have, most likely, charmed the public as a much better looking version of the 6260.

However, since times are tough now, and only going to get worse, Nokia probably chose to play it safe and stopped developing the device further. It might not be exactly what we would have wanted or expected, but given the context, other such decisions should not come as a surprise anymore.
