Nokia has recently launched a promo website for its new 5800 XpressMusic touchscreen handset, probably in order to give us a taste of the 5800 experience before it becomes commercially available.

Accessible at this address, the 5800 XpressMusic mini website can be read in 13 languages, including: English (obviously), Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Deutsch and Italian. The website is "split" in three categories – Touch, Play and Share – all of which will give users a tour of the most important features the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has.

Nokia takes much pride in presenting the new 5800 XpressMusic, and it's somehow natural for this to happen, since it is its first "modern touchscreen handset." Although, feature-wise, the 5800 doesn't top Apple's iPhone 3G, HTC Touch Diamond or Samsung Omnia (just to name a few of the handsets seen as its competitors), the new Nokia seems to be one of the most attractive mobile devices appeared recently. This is also because of its retail price, announced by the company to be of only 279 Euros (around 380 USD).

The highlights of 5800 XpressMusic include: a 3.2 inch TFT touchscreen display with 16 million colors and 360 x 640 pixels, Symbian S60 5th Edition Touch UI, built-in GPS, Wi-Fi with UPnP, advanced Web browsing and emailing capabilities, a standard 3.5mm headset jack, user-friendly Music and Video players, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, stereo FM radio with RDS and an 8GB memory card bundled in the package.

Measuring 111 x 51.7 x 15.5 millimeters (4.37 x 2.03 x 0.61 inches), and weighing 109 grams (3.84 ounces), the new XpressMusic handset packs a powerful 1320 mAh battery that should be capable of providing up to 8.6 hours in talk-time mode or up to no less than 406 hours in stand-by mode.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic should be commercially available before the end of 2008, but unfortunately only few markets will get to have it this year (India and Russia being among them). Until then, the new promo website will probably be the only way to experience the 5800 for many of us.

i don't see how it doesn't beat the iphone, HTC diamond feature-wise, it has everything the iphone has but in a higher quality pack, louder better speakers, better camera, higher resolution screen... there is nothing that the iphone has and the 5800 doesn't. as for the diamond, it's OS is pretty slow and it's glossy body wears off after long time of usage, and hardly has any features to brag about.

don't forget that the 5800 can do bluetooth, message forwarding, MMS, video recording and you can actually use your own ringtone... all of these basic functions which the iphone can't do
