Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is reported to come to the market with a new version of the popular Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, which will be called the Nokia 5800 Star Trek edition. Although the mobile phone has been seen for the first time in Batman – The Dark Knight, it seems that the first S60 5th Edition handset is going to another title on the big screen.

For what it's worth, the new special edition Nokia 5800 Star Trek is reported to come in three color variants, Nokia blue, red, or black and silver, so the Starfleet colors won't be featured on its design, but it will be loaded with a bunch of screensavers, wallpapers, and ringtones to remind us of the popular movie, and it seems that an exclusive phaser application will also come along with the device.

There will be four special Star Trek animated screensavers included in the new Nokia 5800 Star Trek edition, along with three Star Trek wallpapers and eight exclusive ringtones, among which we should be able to spot “Phazer Shot,” “Red Alert” and “Kelvin Communicator.” Unfortunately, no beaming capabilities are reported to come with it.

As for the specifications of the new model, they should be the same as those of the original phone, including the large touchscreen display with tactile feedback, 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and Carl Zeiss optics, and built-in GPS receiver. The rest of the specs, as well as the wide range of features and functionalities, are expected to be there as well.

It seems that the Nokia 5800 Star Trek edition will become available exclusively at Phones 4U starting May 1, 2009, and it is expected to be free on a £25 monthly contract with carriers like Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and O2. As it won't teleport anyone, the device will be a great option to call a friend for a ride home.
