Canadian mobile phone users will soon be able to purchase yet another handset on the airwaves of their new wireless carrier WIND, namely the Nokia 5230. Already available for purchase in the North American continent via T-Mobile US, the handset should arrive in WIND Mobile stores in the following few weeks, the operator announced.

The Nokia 5230 is designed for anyone who wants to have a stylish device that allows them to find their way, discover new content and stay connected to their social networks at all times. We are pleased to offer this smartphone for the first time to our Canadian customers through WIND Mobile,” Richard White, Nokia Canada’s GM, stated.

The specifications list of Nokia 5230 includes a 3.2-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 640 x 360 pixel resolution, a 2-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, 70 MB of internal dynamic memory, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, 3.5 mm stereo headphone jack, FM radio, microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage space, built-in A-GPS, and a 1320 mAh Li-Ion battery.

Measuring 4.37 x 2.03 x 0.57/0.61 inches and weighing in at 4.05 oz, the handset will arrive at WIND pre-loaded with a series of apps, while also offering access to other more via the Ovi Store. Canadian users will enjoy free Nokia Ovi Maps on the handset, a virtual QWERTY keyboard with dual display, and the handwriting features Nokia 5230 comes around with.

No specific details on the price tag of the new phone were unveiled, nor on its exact launch date, but all will become official in the near future. In the meantime, we should note that the carrier won't have the high-end Nokia N900 available for its users. It seems that Nokia does not plan the launch of this handset in Canada, a rather disappointing move for enthusiasts, especially considering that back in January WIND said it was considering the release of the device.
