Nokia has just announced the launch of yet another Symbian Anna smartphone, the Nokia 500, which is expected to hit shelves in Q3 2011.

It appears that this is the first 1GHz Nokia phone launched by the Finnish handset manufacturer from an entire series that leaked last month.

The phone was previously known as Nokia Fate and leaked along with other three smartphones Nokia Helen, Zeta and Cindy.

However, while the other three are allegedly powered by Symbian Belle platform, it seems that the Nokia 500 comes with Symbian Anna on board.

Furthermore, the smarphone is equipped with a single core 1GHz processor and comes with a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen display with 640 x 360 pixels resolution.

Nokia 500 features a 5-megapixel camera on the back that can also capture video and is ideal for daylight snapshots.

With Symbian Anna OS on board, Nokia 500 offers users and Nokia fans a refreshed UI, a better browser and split-screen messaging.

The smarpthone comes pre-installed with the latest version of Nokia Maps for free drive and walk, but users will also be able to download and install third-party apps.

When it comes to entertainment, Nokia 500 features a music player, which is complemented by an FM radio receiver and Internet Radio access to music and news.

Those who like to use social networking service will be happy to find all the features they need through the Social app, which brings friends’ updates to the homescreen.

The phone packs 2GB of internal memory, plus the possibility of increasing this by a further 32GB using the micro-SD card slot.

In addition, it offers pentaband radio coverage, 3G data up to HSUPA speeds, as well as Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi b/g connectivity.

According to the manufacturer, the phone's battery will provide users with 5-7 hours talk time, 450 hours in standby mode or up to 35 hours of music playback.

It is also worth mentioning that the phone will be available in black and white varieties, as well as an additional three different color back covers in the box.

More colors for these will become available soon – including purple, azure blue, pink, coral red, orange and dark silver.

Although the phone is equipped with a powerful 1GHz processor, Nokia 500 is just an entry-level smartphone, which will be available on the market for a suggested retail price of €150 before taxes and subsidies.
