The chassis is called X4 and is surprisingly cheap

Perhaps the X2 Trajan skewed our sense of fair pricing, but the new X4 released by Cooltek is surprisingly inexpensive for a mid-tower enclosure in comparison. Although we should make some clarifications before we go forward.

Trajan is the chassis released by the company known as X2, and X2 has nothing to do with the name of the product we are going to cover here.

The X4 case in the attached picture gallery is actually a product released by Cooltek, which also has an X3 on sale.

We won't even try to guess what kind of lawsuits would have happened if there had been a way to patent the use of single letters as product names. Now then, with that egress out of the way we can finally get down to business.

The Cooltek X4 desktop mid-tower case

The newcomer measures 408 mm in height, 175 mm in width and 425 mm in depth, which means it is a 16 x 6.88 x 16.73 inches product.

Thus, it has enough room for micro-ATX and ATX motherboards, but nothing larger. The press release also makes no mention of mini-ITX, curiously enough, but unless the motherboard tray is particularly bizarre, those will be compatible as well.

There are two external 5.25 inch drive bays, as well as five 3.5-inch bays on the inside, where you can place 2.5-inch storage devices if necessary (HDDs, SSDs, HHDs, SSHDs).

The top graphics card length is of 275 mm, which could be a problem if you want one of the longer models in the world, particularly AMD's and NVIDIA's dual-GPU video boards. There are no removable drive cages here.

Still, the GeForce GTX 980 will fit, if nothing else, as will the GTX 960, and the Radeon R9 290 should squeeze in there too, since it's exactly 275 mm long (10.82 inches). Meanwhile, CPU coolers can be up to 145 mm / 5.70 inches tall.

Finally, the I/O panel is located on the front and includes a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 connector, and HD audio ports (microphone and headphones).

Availability

The Cooltek X4 case should  be up for sale in stores for the price of €33 / $38, which includes 19% VAT in case you were wondering. The construction is a mixture of steel and plastic, and an 80mm fan is installed to the back of the enclosure, for active exhaust. Quiet office computers are the intended scenario, but any type of system can be put inside.
