Noctua has just launched three different cooling fans that can be used in computer and network systems. The new fans are really silent and although all the technologies described by the manufacturer sound more like gimmicks, the coolers are really quiet.

The smaller of the three is the Noctua NF-A4x10 FLX and this one has a modest 40-millimeter diameter and a maximum rotational speed of 4500 RPM, but the company promises it won’t be louder than 18 decibels while circulating over 8 cubic meters of air per hour.

The mid one is the Noctua NF-A6x25 FLX and this one has a 60-millimeter diameter and a maximum rotational speed of just 3000 RPM, but the company promises it won’t be louder than 20 decibels while circulating over 29 cubic meters of air per hour.

There is an amazing difference of performance between the two fans.

The 60-millimeter NF-A6x25 FLX manages to blow almost 4 times more air than the 40-millimeter NF-A4x10 FLX despite rotating much slower at just 3000 RPM.

This difference may be coming from the fact that the NF-A4x10 FLX a height of just 10 millimeters while the NF-A6x25 FLX is a 25-millimeters tall fan and thus comes with larger fan blades.

Another important note is the fact that, despite having a 50% slower rotational speed, the NF-A6x25 FLX is actually louder than its 40-millimeter brother.

The largest fan announced today is the Noctua NF-A9x14 and this one has a 92-millimeter diameter and a maximum rotational speed of just 2200 RPM, but the company promises it won’t be louder than 20 decibels while circulating over 50 cubic meters of air per hour.
Noctua touts the modest height of the NF-A9x14 92-millimeter fan, but as we’ve seen with the 40-mm and 60-mm models, the modest height clearly affects the performance of the fan so we should expect that thicker fans will actually be able to circulate more than 50 cubic meters of air per hour and considerably more if spinning at more than 2200 RPM.

Prices are set at 12.90 EUR ($15.90) for the NF-A4x10, 14.90 EUR ($17.90) for the NF-A6x25 and 16.90 EUR ($19.90) for the NF-A9x14.
