Although most users are now anxiously waiting for the release of Intel's next-generation Nehalem-based Core i7 processors, Noctua, a designer of cooling products for computer hardware components, has just announced the introduction of four new CPU coolers specifically designed to meet the requirements of Intel's Xeon and AMD's Opteron processors. The new coolers have been optimized for dual-socket systems, and are equipped with the company's highly successful NH-U12 and NH-U9 series of CPU coolers.

“Maximum cooling performance at minimum noise levels and excellent reliability can be particularly important when it comes to high-end workstations and special server applications," Mag. Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO, stated. "Due to the ever-growing demand for our Xeon and Socket F mounting kits, we decided to design new, customized versions of our coolers that are completely tailor-made for use on Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron systems, especially dual socket configurations. Enter the DX/DO series!”

The company has revealed that the designs of the NH-U12DX and NH-U9DX have been modified so that two coolers can form an air duct on dual Xeon platforms, thus delivering an improvement in the cooling factor, while keeping the noise level down to a minimum. In addition, Noctua has also equipped its new Intel-supporting coolers with a SecuFirm2 mounting system that offers pre-installed support for Intel's socket 771 CPUs.

Both the company's DX and DO series of CPU coolers are provided with the Noctua NT-H1 thermal compound, and the NF-P12 and NF-B9 fans, offering a straight out-of-the box solution for reference CPU coolers. The provided fans come with a 120mm and 92mm form factor, respectively, and are compatible with both the Xeon and Opteron-supporting coolers. No word on pricing just yet, but the official statement of the company says that all the new coolers are immediately available.
