Noctua, the Austrian and Taiwanese joint-venture has announced the availability of a new model in the NH-U series: the NH-U12P. Already awarded more than 150 recommendations, the cooling series distinguishes by an increased
ventilation capacity and a low noise level.

Noctua's NH-U12P is built around the successful design and the well-proven SecuFirm™ fastening system introduced in the previous models. Made of nickel-coated aluminum, this model is more compact than the other NH-U coolers. Apart from its fashionable, silvery look, the cooler features a narrow side-on profile, which allows the user to squeeze it even in motherboard setups with high profile chipset coolers.

The mounting base has a clear finish, without toolmarks and imperfections to facilitate thermal conductivity. The package also contains the NT-H1 thermal compound with a high grade of heat conductivity, mostly used for in CPU overclocking. The four heatpipes carry the heat upwards to the cooling fins. The cooler ships with SecuFirm™ mounting-kits for socket LGA 775, AM2 and AM2+, while a fastening system for Intel Xeon CPUs is available upon request.

Active cooling is done with the new NF-P12 fan, designed for heavy-computing systems. The fan has been optimized in what they call "psycho-acoustic", which makes it run silently even at full rotational speed. Another worth-mentioning feature is the use of the SSO-Bearing (self-stabilizing oil-pressure bearing) technology, that guarantees quiet operation over an increased period of time.

"We continually work to further improve our successful products", stated Roland Mossig, Noctua CEO. "The NH-U12P doesn't only provide better mainboard compatibility, but thanks to the use of the new NF-P12 fan as well as the high-grade NT-H1 compound, the NH-U12P also brings its predecessors' much-acclaimed quiet cooling performance to a whole new level". The NH-U12P will be available to the resellers starting November 28th with a price tag of around $64.90.
