Owners of a Samsung Focus smartphone on the airwaves of wireless carrier AT&T now have a reason to rejoice, as a software update is on its way to their devices soon. None other than the long-awaited NoDo Windows Phone software update, it is currently scheduling, after coming out from the testing phase, Microsoft has just announced.

The update was supposed to arrive on devices a few months ago, but various issues that emerged with it determined Microsoft to push its release back.

Other software updates have already been delivered to handsets running under the company's Windows Phone platform, and some of them will come along with NoDo as well.

Samsung Focus was not the only handset that experienced delays in receiving the update, and Microsoft did a similar move elsewhere too: they included more updates in a single package, so that it would be easier for users to install them.

“When the update is ready for your phone you will receive an alert, then you connect your phone to your PC to download and install the new software. You’ll receive 2 back-to-back notifications,” Microsoft's Eric Hautala explains in a blog post.

“The first is for the 7008 update. Once installed, you can then immediately update to 7392 (which will also include the 7390 “copy and paste” update).”

The 7008 update was supposed to land sometime in February, in preparation of NoDo, but it caused problems on Focus, thus resulting in having all other updates after it pushed back.

The 7390 “copy and paste” update is NoDo, while the 7392 update was delivered starting with May to resolve a series of security issues that had nothing to do with Microsoft, but could still affect Windows Phone users.

Specific info on the delivery schedule for the new software update on Focus will emerge soon, so keep an eye on this space for additional details on the matter.
