Study shows that 71% of all smartphone owners don’t mind the iPhone 4S

Retrevo, the consumer shopping and review site, has issued its latest Gadgetology report which looks at who exactly is planning on buying the iPhone 4S.

According to their study, 44% of iPhone 3G & 3GS owners plan on buying the new iPhone 4S. Of iPhone 4 owners, 42% plan on buying the new smartphone.

Only 12% of Android owners plan on buying the new iPhone 4S. In the BlackBerry camp, 24% want Apple’s latest handset.

Among ALL Smartphone Owners, 24% said they plan on buying the new iPhone 4S, with 26% saying they are not sure about their next purchase.

Asked whether they’d stand in line today for the new device, 18% of everyone surveyed said they planned on camping out or waiting in a long line to get the new iPhone 4S. 53% said they didn’t think there would be a problem getting the phone.

53% of the surveyed iPhone owners said they were not disappointed by the iPhone 4S announcement on October 4. But 21% said they wished it was an iPhone 5 with an all new design. Many also wanted the phone to have 4G connectivity and 12% said they wished it had a larger display.

As far as all smartphone owners were concerned, the percentage different, but the impressions were all pretty much the same. Notably, 71% of all smartphone owners Retrevo surveyed said they were not disappointed by the 4S announcement.

“Although some expressed disappointment in the lack of iPhone 5 features it appears that interest is high and demand will be strong for iPhone 4S especially among current iPhone owners,” Retrevo said. “It also doesn't appear likely that you'll see many customers camping out in front of Apple stores around the country like we have for products in the past,” the company concluded.
