Even with the BUILD Windows conference now just a week away

The BUILD Windows 8-centric conference is now approximately a week away, and mum’s the word on the event’s details. The Agenda page continues to offer only the most general of info, but nothing on the sessions scheduled for next week.

BUILD sold out completely even if the software giant shared no actual information of the specific topics which will be discussed at the event.

There are some clues, of course, such as the promise that Windows 8 will take center stage. In addition to the focus on the next-generation of Windows, BUILD will also deal with Internet Explorer 10, HTML5, as well as the development of future applications for Windows 8.

Personally, I expect the Redmond company to talk about a range of technologies, including Visual Studio vNext. Essentially, PDC (Professional Developers Conference) participants can get a pretty good idea of what BUILD attendees are in for.

This even though details on the actual BUILD Windows 8 sessions are still a closely guarded secret.

One thing that Microsoft promised will not be a secret is the upcoming availability of the first pre-release Build of Windows 8, which is expected by many at BUILD, although there’s no official confirmation from the software giant on the matter.

The little details shared about the first Windows 8 pre-release Build indicate that some components of the operating system will not be included initially. Windows Media Center is perhaps the most illustrative example in this regard.

However, the platform is still far from being finalized, and changes can still occur, with Microsoft hinting at the possibility of adding new features, but also removing items.

A very ambitious goal has been set for Windows 8, an OS which is tasked to changing devices in the same manner in which Windows 95 revolutionized the PC.
