Verizon Wireless subscribers who use a BlackBerry Storm mobile phone will have to wait a little longer before an official firmware update for their devices is released into the wild it seems, as the latest version of the operating system, namely OS 4.7.0.141, is now reported to have failed the wireless carrier's testing.

For what it's worth, Verizon Wireless was expected to release a software update for the BlackBerry storm for quite a while now, yet it has delayed it over and over, and while the OS 4.7.0.141 was expected to be launched on its airwaves late last month, it seems that the carrier's users won't be so lucky this time either. Given the fact that the issues with their handsets remain unsolved, they might try once again going for one of those leaked firmware updates that have made it into the wild quite a few times before, and which might surface in the future as well.

According to the news on the web, the OS 4.7.0.141 for Storm comes with too many glitches and bugs, and the mobile phone carrier chose not to release it. At the same time, it seems that no other future date for an update has been unveiled, and there are no details on what update that might be. On the one hand, RIM and Verizon might go for yet another OS 4.7 iteration; on the other hand, they might choose to release directly the OS 5.0 for BlackBerry devices.

Hopefully, a solution for Storm's problems will come to Verizon subscribers in the near future, the same as it happened with Vodafone's, and they won't have to wait for the BlackBerry Storm 2 to hit the market to be able to enjoy some of the features that the first version should have offered to them already. Stay tuned to learn more details on the matter as soon as they become available.
