The handset hasn’t been officially confirmed as of yet

Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is one of those companies that plan the release of Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 2 on their networks.

The operator hasn’t officially confirmed this as of yet, but the phone has been already spotted online with Verizon’s branding all over it.

The leaked alleged photos of Galaxy Note 2 for Big Red confirmed one appealing feature that the upcoming device would pack inside, namely support for the wireless carrier’s 4G LTE network.

Running under Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and featuring a large 5.5-inch touchscreen display, along with a powerful application processor inside, the handset appears to be all that enthusiasts have been waiting for.

Unfortunately, it seems that there is some bad news for those who plan on purchasing the device.

The guys over at BriefMobile claim that Galaxy Note 2 will arrive at Verizon with a locked bootloader packed inside.

This could prove to be a deal breaker for many, as the handset won’t allow them to install custom ROMs with kernels and radios.

Galaxy S III, currently Samsung’s flagship Android-based smartphone, came to Verizon with a locked bootloader as well, and the fact that Galaxy Note 2 will be released the same way does not come too much as a surprise.

For those out of the loop, we should note that other new handsets for Verizon are also expected to hit shelves with locked bootloaders inside.

The newly unveiled DROID RAZR M and DROID RAZR HD will be launched this way, though Motorola also announced that special developer editions would be released as well, so that users could benefit from the customization features they are looking for.

As for Galaxy Note 2, Verizon has yet to confirm both the upcoming availability of this device on its network, as well as the status of its bootloader. Hopefully, it will at least provide users with other options regarding the tweaking of the device.
