It took that much time to record those scenes

With less than 4 months left until the release of CD Projekt’s Witcher 3, the game is getting increased hype from the press and that’s normal.

However, some of the things that have been told by developers were misinterpreted by a large part of the media, which is why we feel obligated to inform our readers about the news claiming Witcher 3 has no less than 16 hours of intercourse scenes.

That is completely bogus and Nikolas Kolm, quest designer at CD Projekt immediately clarified the situation. As the title says, Kolm confirmed that “it took 16 hours to record all mo-cap material for the sex parts.”

So, as you can see, The Witcher 3 won’t include 16 hours of those scenes. That will probably have turned it into an XXX game, right? Unfortunately, the whole misunderstanding started after a preview of Witcher 3 that appeared on The Guardian and that focused on intercourse scenes.

The author wrote that “the game, due for release in May, contains 16 hours of sex scene motion capture data,” which can be misinterpreted, and in fact it was.

The game won't focus on sex, so don't freak out, you're still playing an RPG

The article has since been corrected to reflect the truth about the game and claims that Witcher 3 “contains sex scenes constructed from over 16 hours of motion capture data.”

And for those who fear that CD Projekt will focus more on intercourse than on the actual game, rest assured that it will not happen, at least according to senior game designer Damien Monhier:

“People might think we’re putting sex into the opening scene for no good reason. No, no, no. We are establishing that your character was intimate with this woman recently in order to plant in your mind that, at very least, he must enjoy her company.”

So, now that we’ve cleared that up, can we start talking about Witcher 3 and the new things it brings over the previous installments in the series?
