The firmware update released by Microsoft last month for Surface Pro 2 tablets caused quite a lot of problems on several devices, so Redmond decided to pull it completely from Windows Update.

According to users who talked to Microsoft support staff, the company was expected to launch a new firmware update for the Surface Pro 2 today as part of Patch Tuesday, but it turns out that the software giant has actually skipped its top-of-the-range tablet this month.

Among the problems that have been experienced by Surface Pro 2 users who installed the December 2013 firmware update, it’s worth mentioning overheating, reduced battery life, and devices that woke up from sleep all by themselves.

As Neowin points out, there are no other details regarding the timing when we could get the new firmware update, but Microsoft has promised to work through the holidays to make the new build available, which means that we’re very close to the new release.
