The statement hints at Steam Machines, OS, controller reveal

There will be no 2015 edition of the Steam Dev Days event as Valve confirms that it wants to have a larger than usual presence at GDC 2015 in March, adding even more weight to the rumors concerning the debut of the Steam Machines, SteamOS, and Steam controller at that convention.

Valve has always had a pretty tight connection with other video game developers from all over the world, and last year, it organized a special Dev Days event at its headquarters in Seattle. At the gathering, developers were able to network and get up to date information straight from Valve's own Gabe Newell, as well as admire different secret prototypes, such as the company's own virtual reality ideas.

No Dev Days this year

While the event was a success, it seems that Valve won't make it an annual affair, as it isn't planning on holding another edition of the Steam Dev Days this year.

According to a statement provided by the studio to Gamasutra, the "Steam Dev Days was a great way to brief a large number of Steam developers," but it only made sense last year as Valve had a lot of interesting technology and ideas to present to other game developers from all over the world.

The studio will have a bigger presence at GDC 2015 in March

However, this doesn’t mean that Valve won't interact with other studios and developers, as it also confirms that it will have a much bigger presence at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March, which takes place in San Francisco.

"This year our focus will be a bit different, so we are planning a larger than usual presence at GDC. So, there will not be a Steam Dev Days this year, but we will certainly consider doing it again in the future."

The statement adds even more weight to a recent rumor which claims that Valve will introduce at GDC 2015 the final versions of the Steam Machines mini-PCs, the SteamOS operating system, as well as the Steam controller, which has gone through many redesigns in recent months.

As of yet, however, Valve isn't commenting on what it will show at GDC at the beginning of spring.
