Rumors pointing to the return of the Start Menu in Windows are all over the web today, but as I’ve reported to you not a long time ago, Microsoft might actually wait until Windows 9 to bring this popular feature back in its operating system.

And the recently leaked screenshots showing the upcoming Windows 8.1 Update 1 in action seem to confirm this, as there’s no sign of the Start Menu in this new release.

Windows 8.1 Update 1 is the first large update for Windows 8.1 which was also rumored to come with a new Start Menu, but it appears that the software giant hasn’t yet completed development of the new feature.

This particular update is projected to be unveiled in April at the BUILD developer conference, the same show that’s also going to bring us more details about Windows 9, the next full version of Windows projected to see daylight in April 2015.
