Alex Jones, who is the leading producer working on DmC: Devil May Cry, has made it clear that the upcoming video game will not include a playable Vergil.

Speaking to Eurogamer, he stated, “I want to be definitive. He’s not playable in the game. I don’t want to be coy about that and have people think they’re getting one thing when they’re getting another.”

Since Vergil was first shown as being a part of the new DmC: Devil May Cry, the fan base of the series has been hoping that they will be able to control him during some of the fight sequences.

The game is being developed by Ninja Theory and many fans have been critical of the way the team has approached the universe and the characters.

DmC: Devil May Cry will be launched on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 on January 15 in both North America and Europe and two days later in Japan.
