After the Xbox One debut of the game, it could appear on PC

Insomniac Games, the developer of the upcoming Xbox One game Sunset Overdrive, has talked a bit about a possible PC edition of the title, saying that, while there are no plans right now, the future is uncertain and we could see the open world game debut on the PC platform.

Sunset Overdrive is one of the biggest exclusive games for the Xbox One set to debut this fall, and Microsoft has partnered directly with independent studio Insomniac Games to ensure that the title will appear only on its next-gen platform.

However, considering exclusives are rarely forever nowadays, it's quite possible that, given the independent nature of the developer, at least some platforms might see Sunset Overdrive appear at some point in time besides the Xbox One.

The PC edition isn't being planned right now

One possible destination for Sunset Overdrive might be the PC platform, seeing as how it's not unheard of for Xbox One exclusives, such as Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, or even Titanfall, to appear on the PC sooner or later.

While talking with Videogamer, Insomniac Games' Community and Marketing Lead James Stevenson has gone in-depth about a possible PC port of the Xbox One experience. He confirms that a PC edition isn't being planned right now, as all the effort is going towards the Xbox One version, but the future may change that, once the game debuts on Microsoft's console.

"I don't know what the future holds," Stevenson says. "Right now there's no plans for a PC version of the game. We're just working hard to finish up [the Xbox One version]."

"We're going to support it post-launch and then we'll see what happens in the future. But there's no plans. We aren't planning a PC version or anything like that."

A PS4 edition isn't likely, however

Microsoft stepped forward a few weeks ago to confirm that Sunset Overdrive was exclusive permanently to the Xbox One platform, meaning PS4 owners shouldn't expect Insomniac to bring its open world experience to the Sony home console at any point in time.

However, the company has left the door open for a possible PC adaptation, especially since it's already been done with Dead Rising 3 or Ryse: Son of Rome and might continue with other exclusive games from third-party developers or publishers.

Expect some form of announcement from Insomniac to appear after Sunset Overdrive makes its debut on the Xbox One on October 28 in North America and October 31 in Europe.
