A couple of years too late, the former cast of the very successful HBO series finally buried the hatchet and agreed to get together on the same set, cameras rolling, to continue the story of the four women who used to enjoy sex, fashion and Cosmopolitans, mostly in that particular order. The 'Sex and the City' movie hasn't yet a release date but everybody involved makes sure to keep the fans' interest alive. At the end of the day, we can honestly say that we still don't know anything certain about the project but, hey, we did hear a lot of rumors about it!
While each and every one member of the original cast confirmed the movie, the producers failed to announce a precise date when it would go into production, but more and more details are being released day in and day out to - as I've already said - keep the fans curious. After main star Sarah Jessica Parker talked to the media and revealed that playing Carrie Bradshaw practically ruined her body (number one, because she hates high-heeled, stiletto shoes and, number two, because she is not that much into alcohol and one too many Cosmopolitans have made her sick of it), now it's the series' executive producer's turn to take the lead.
Apparently, we have a new addition to the movie, a character most female fans of the show definitely fell in love with: Mr. Big. Because, you know what they say, no party is a good party if Mr. Big is not invited. Well, I actually just made that up - but it was to make my point. My bad. The former executive producer of the series, Michael Patrick, who will act as both writer and director for the movie, just gave the good news, in response to the latest rumor, that had it that the big screen version will not feature Carrie's wedding, as expected, but Mr. Big's funerals.
'There is no need for funeral arrangements. I assure you that "Mr Big" is a very "big" part of the "Sex and the City" movie. While I have not spoken to him myself, Chris Noth assures me that "Mr Big" is alive and well and ready to report to the set.', Patrick explained in a recent interview. However, he refused to reveal whether fans are to expect Big and Carrie's wedding, if his funerals are completely out of the question.
If the long time lapse hasn't yet diminished your interest in the adventures of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte and the charming Mr. Big, stay tuned here for more updates. Hopefully, we'll also have a release date soon...
