So says its developer

Electronic Arts is one of the biggest companies involved in gaming, and it manages to ship a lot of new and interesting games on almost every platform conceivable. That is why, when its Visceral Games studio announced that it would be creating Dante's Inferno, a new property, based on the Dead Space engine, everyone thought it would be multi platform.

Sadly, it seems that that isn't the case with the upcoming hack and slash game, as Dante's Inferno will only appear on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable consoles, thus skipping the PC altogether. This was confirmed by EA, which gave the following statement:

“When Dante's Inferno was originally announced in December, we attached no platforms to the project,” a company representative said. “When we came out with a first look for press in February we announced 360/PS3 and then in April we announced PSP. We never announced a PC SKU nor are there plans for any.”

Pretty hard words, which will certainly leave many PC gamers filled with regret. Dante's Inferno is shaping up together quite nicely, and thanks to the Dead Space engine it looks extremely good. Hopefully though, if the game fares well as a new IP on the other platforms it will appear on, we might see it ported to the PC in due time.

Until then, we need to be content with reading Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy and imagining that the action takes place on our beloved PC. Also, perhaps the two movies based on the game, one animated, the other live action, will make the wait much more pleasant. Look forward to the new game at the beginning of next year, when it will appear in an already pretty busy period, filled with other blockbuster releases like BioShock 2, Splinter Cell Conviction or Red Steel 2.
