The Android smartphone will not be released in Korea or Japan either

Nokia announced the new X family of Android smartphones earlier this week at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 and fans of the Google’s platform were probably very pleased that the Finnish company would release not one but three devices this year.

Nokia X, X+ and XL are the first Android smartphones ever announced by the Finnish handset maker, but the company preferred to aim at emerging markets instead of taking on established competitors in the Android market such as Samsung, HTC and LG.

Obviously, that doesn’t mean that Nokia X will be a hard to come by smartphone like the N9 was in the past. However, there are some regions in particular that will not be getting any of the three affordable Nokia X smartphones.

Nokia’s Jussi Nevanlinna, VP for Mobile Phone marketing, answered a few questions for Android avid fans anxiously waiting to grab the company’s new devices and he explained where exactly the X family would be available.

Well, it appears that if you live in India, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South America (Brazil, Mexico), you should not be worried about getting a Nokia X smartphone, as the company’s official has confirmed that the entire family will be released in these countries.

The bad news is that the Nokia X family will not be available in North America, so those living in the United States or Canada will probably be forced to order the smartphones overseas if they really must own one.

Moreover, Nokia’s Jussi Nevanlinna has confirmed that the Nokia X will not arrive in Korea and Japan either, but he has also completed the list of countries where the smartphones will be launched by saying that “these are global products.”

This means that aside from the regions mentioned by Nevanlinna, the Nokia X smartphones might be available for purchase just about anywhere in this world.

From what Nevanlinna revealed during the short interview, it’s clear that the Finnish company is targeting the markets where the Nokia brand still means something.

Although its market share has dropped drastically over the last couple of months, Nokia hopes to regain the lost ground with these new affordable Android smartphones. Hopefully, these will be enough to bring back some of its previous glory.

For those unaware, the Nokia X has been confirmed to arrive on the market beginning this week for only €90 ($125) outright. The Nokia X+ and Nokia XL will be launched in early Q2 and have been priced at €100 ($135) and €110 ($150), respectively.
