Fresh off her highly successful “Circus” tour, Britney Spears is not wasting any time. The singer is already back in the studio laying down tracks for an upcoming material and, as usual, somehow this got out in the media, prompting speculation that the new album might drop as early as this summer. Not quite so, a spokesperson for Jive Records tells AceShowbiz.

Though Britney is, indeed, back in the studio working on new stuff, to say that an album might arrive as early as in a few months’ time is absurd, the spokesperson insists. At the same time, it’s understood that fans want to hear something new from their idol, especially since all her more recent releases have gone to write chart history, thus officially confirming her position as the Princess of Pop, but that will not influence in any way the release date of the upcoming material.

“Recent rumor suggesting that Britney Spears is going to drop another studio album this June has been denied. In her official site, the report which was run by TMZ is called BS by management team of the ‘Circus’ singer,” AceShowbiz says, thus putting an end to speculation that an album will arrive in the summer of 2010. However, as with everything else in life, there’s a silver lining to this as well – namely that fans get confirmation that Britney is back in the studio, working on new stuff.

“It’s true that Britney has kicked off recording sessions for her next studio project but there is no discussion yet concerning the release date. ‘There has been zero discussion about it,’ a representative from her label Jive Records confirmed to Just Jared. While it is unknown when the album is going to hit the market, words on the street swirl that the likes of Darkchild, David Guetta, Cisco Adler and Sean Garrett have jumped on board to help her finishing the record. Previously, KIIS-FM hinted the fresh material produced by David will be sent to radios this March,” the e-zine further says.

In all fairness, reports that Spears will be coming out with something new this year go a long way back, as we also informed you. Back in November, for instance, when she was still performing on her “Circus” dates, word got out in the blogosphere that she would release new material in May 2010 but that rumor fell through when nothing more was heard of it.
