The platform will receive the app in the form of an Android port

Owners of BlackBerry 10 devices won’t get the chance to enjoy the benefits of a native Instagram application, it seems.

This is not the only such app that will be missed on BlackBerry’s new platform version, as Skype was also confirmed recently to arrive on the OS in the form of a port from Android.

“There will be no [native] Instagram for BB10 for now,” a source familiar with the matter said, AllThingsD reports. “Frankly, I'm not sure there will ever be.”

Instagram will be present on the list of applications available for BlackBerry 10, but only in the form of an Android port, the same as Skype.

This means that the experience it will deliver won’t be fully integrated with the mobile platform, the same as it would be in the case of an app built using BlackBerry’s Cascades SDK.
