Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia will not launch its first and only MeeGo-powered smartphone on the market in Hong Kong, the company has just announced, recent reports

claim.

Apparently, Nokia has decided to cancel plans aimed at bringing the Nokia N9 smartphone to shelves in Hong Kong, but did not offer an explanation for the move.

The Nokia N9 was unveiled to the world only a few months ago, yet it was already made available for pre-order in the company's home land, where it met great demand.

As reported recently, the 64GB model was sold out in a matter of days in Finland, although it is only in the pre-order period at the moment.

The mobile phone appears to be very impressive, and the operating system it runs under the same, which explains why enthusiasts wanted to get a taste of it.

In Hong Kong, the phone was expected to prove a success, although only a small number of devices were set to arrive on the local market.

As stated above, Nokia did not offer a specific explanation on what determined it to cancel N9 for Hong Kong, but it might do so in the near future. Some even hope that it would change its mind, and that the phone will hit shelves in the country.

The same as Hong Kong, the handset will not arrive in many other markets around the world, at least not in an official manner.

Some suggest that Nokia might have had plans to manufacture only a very small number of units, somewhere around 100,000, and that this would be the main reason for its limited availability, but nothing has been confirmed on this until now.

Nokia already confirmed that the phone will be launched in markets like Australia, Mexico or Singapore, yet it still has to provide a full list of markets that will receive it.
