While Building Windows 8 Video #3 will not be the last of its kind, it will be the last Building Windows 8

video to also feature a number.

Users should expect Microsoft to no longer count future video demonstrations of the next generation of the Windows client.

The change was necessary because some of the customers watching the videos apparently had trouble getting what the numbers were all about, according to Steven Sinofsky, President, Windows and Windows Live Division.

“A lot of folks asked about Building Windows 8 Video #1 -- this is the user experience demo. The numbering seems to be confusing so [Building Windows 8 Video #3] will be our last numbered video,” the Windows boss explained.

Now, just to be absolutely clear, the software giant will continue to provide users with Building Windows 8 videos, it will just drop the numbers previously associated with each release.

Personally I think the problem was related to the fact that the Redmond company shared the first Windows 8 video back in June 2011, and the more recent two after the Building Windows 8 blog went live earlier this month.

There’s no point in searching for Building Windows 8 Video #1 on the official blog of the operating system, since users won’t find it there. Instead they either have to look on YouTube, or watch it on the Microsoft Press Center.

I included all three Windows 8 videos below, just to make it easier for users to access the demos in the same location. There is additional content focused on Windows 7’s successor, including other official video demonstrations of Windows 8, but Microsoft is apparently not counting those.

Just a reminder, the first Building Windows 8 video skyrocketed to over 2 million views in the first day after release and has been viewed by in excess of 5 million people at this point in time.

Short summary, the first video demos the new Windows 8 UI, the second showcases USB 3.0 support and the third depicts the new file management functionality of the OS.
