Computer maker Dell will no longer work on the development of smartphones, as it has decided to close its mobile phone business globally.

The smartphone market has seen great expansion lately, and is expected to grow even more in the years to come, but it seems that Dell can’t keep up.

Jeff Clarke, the head of Dell’s consumer business, confirmed to Forbes the decision, explaining that being successful in this segment requires huge investments.

Dell has had both Android and Windows Phone devices available for purchase around the world, but it has decided to pull the plug on them in the United States earlier this year.

Although these smartphones are available for purchase in some markets, they will be taken off shelves soon, it seems. Apparently, Dell does not plan on taking another shot at the smartphone segment anytime soon.
