Following the recent legal problems encountered by the famous BitTorrent website, the owners of the service decided to release a special function to fight against pirated content. FileRights, the new function, is meant to filter the search results to avoid pirated content from being indexed by the webpage. As you probably know, TorrentSpy serves as a search engine that provides instant access to thousands of pages, no matter if they contain
legal or pirated content. According to CNET, FileRights will work just like any other video content filter that fights against improper content published on the Internet.

"With FileRights we used the community networking power of the Web to automate and aggregate the entire copyright filtration process. Torrentspy now uses the FileRights cooperative filtering process to filter search results on its popular search engine," Ira Rothken, TorrentSpy's attorney, said according to the same source.

Compared to the anti-piracy tool implemented by TorrentSpy, the popular online video sharing service YouTube is fighting to create a similar tool to stop the clips that infringe copyright. Since the Google acquisition in October 2006 for $1.65 billion, YouTube was continuously present in the court as numerous firms accused the video service for copyright infringement. As usual, the users uploaded videos on YouTube and the other companies sued the search giant for publishing them without authorization.
Just after the acquisition, Google said that it plans to develop a revolutionary function to stop users from uploading unauthorized clips. Scheduled for December, Claim Your Content was then postponed but the Google CEO Eric Schmidts said the function is going to be released soon.

From this point of view, TorrentSpy and YouTube are somewhat similar because both of them were sent to the court after illegal content was published on their official pages. TorrentSpy was accused by the Hollywood firms of offering instant access to pirated content.
